Who am I and why am I qualified to guide you in living without a salary? In not having a consistent salary most of my adult life, I have come to appreciate the creativity involved in creating new uses for old things, or just figuring out what to do without. In all honesty however, I have to admit that my previous spouse did have a consistent salary, and we lived on that. When the money was good, I fell into the trap of most consumers do–spend more as the money increased. And I spent, and spent, and spent with the best of them. Then, when the marriage ended, and I had to be on my own, while still getting some money from my ex, I realized that I can’t completely depend on that to get me and the kids through the tough times. (I also can’t completely depend on my ex to give all that was promised either. I have gotten cheated several times already…)
Going back to the basics has been eye-opening for me. And I realized that reducing costs is much more important than increasing the income. Once costs are reduced to as low as they can be, earning money is not that hard. A few odd jobs now and then, along with some passive income, and I have all I need.
Experience, they say, is worth a thousand books on the subject. And that is why I am qualified to quide you through this process. Stay with me to learn all you can about living without a salary!
